A 2×12 Convertible Isolation Cabinet with Built-in Microphone

The Cage is a feature filled cabinet designed with the musician in mind. At its core, it’s a 2×12 cab. But it’s so much more than that. The cab is designed for use both horizontally or vertically. Horizontal gives you a more traditional look and feel, while vertical elevates the amplifier while resembling a stack. The front baffle has both speakers angled inward. When horizontal, this spreads out the sound to prevent beaming. This gives a very wide sweet spot of tone. When vertical, this directs the sound upwards towards your ears instead of past your ankles. This angled baffle also reduces the width of the cab by about 2 inches. It also provides space for the isolation cover.

That’s right, this cab is convertible into a portable isolation cabinet as well! The included cover is packed with sound absorption material, as well as the rear chambers behind each speaker. With the cover on, the volume is greatly reduced. Included in the front panel are precisely tuned sound ports, designed to let the speakers breath. Many isolation cabinets will sound like they are in a box, but these ports prevent the boxy sound.
In addition to the cover, The Cage offers a mode I call the Silencer. With only the cover installed, the sound reduction is around 15 decibels. This is like reducing a 100 watt amplifier to a 3 watt amplifier. With Silencer engaged, the reduction reaches 30 decibels, which is like reducing a 100 watt amplifier to a 0.1 watt amplifier, without changing the tone you worked so hard to achieve. This means being able to have a conversation with a 40 watt amplifier cranked to 11. No more worrying about stage noise. No more complaints about late night recording sessions. No more worrying about your live tone differing from your recorded tone.

The Of course an isolation cab isn’t very useful unless you have a way to get the sound out on demand. The Cage has a built in Harness microphone, tucked between the speaker and the baffle. This means not only is it already set up for recording, it is also ready for live shows. No need to pack a microphone, or worry about mic placement. This is already done for you. Just show up, plug into the mixer, turn on phantom power and you’re ready to rock!

Featuring two 12″ Jensen Tornado Stealth 80 speakers, chosen for their tone, and their lightweight build. With slightly scooped mids, it shines in the cleanest as well as in the heaviest tonal applications. It delivers exceptional punch and attack, retaining all the clarity needed for palm-muted riffs and power chords, as well as crystal clear clean rhythm playing. They are one of the few speakers versatile enough to cover all the capabilities of JDP Amplifiers heads. This cab is 4 ohm, and rated for 160 watts.
